Boston MedFlight Welcomes Jason Cohen as Chief Medical Officer

February 01, 2016 Bedford, Mass., February 1, 2016 – Boston MedFlight, a world–renowned, nonprofit critical care transport program serving the most critically ill and injured patients in and around New England, today announced the appointment of critical care physician Jason Cohen, DO, FACEP, FCCM, to the position of Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Cohen brings more than 25 years of health care experience to the CMO position, including 13 years as an emergency care physician with FEMA and the United States Army.

Dr. Cohen also previously served as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Surgery at Albany Medical Center for the past 5 years and is board certified in emergency and critical care medicine.

For the past 27 years, Dr. Wedel has served in a dual role as Boston MedFlight’s Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director. Dr. Wedel will continue in her capacity as Boston MedFlight’s CEO.

Dr. Cohen will work closely with Dr. Wedel and with a seasoned, senior leadership team, as well as a team of Associate Medical Directors affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Lahey Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts Medical Center.

The CMO position will also be combined with a clinical role at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
